WHY FIRE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS ARE NON-NEGOTIABLE
The Faridabad factory fire accident is by far, the worst fire related disaster this year and it once again underlines the crying need for establishments to necessarily take all safety precautions as per the rules and regulations. The factory fire in the Mujesar area had climbed to 39, with two more people, including the factory owner's son, succumbing to their injuries, police said on Friday, February 20. Abhishek Monga (37), son of factory owner Vijay Monga, and Pradeep Kumar (21), a factory worker and resident of Sanjay Colony here, died during treatment at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital on Thursday night, police said. Two fire brigade employees, Ranveer and Bhavichand, are in critical condition. They suffered over 50 per cent burns and are undergoing treatment at Safdarjung Hospital, an officer said.
“An FIR was registered against the owner and manager of Shiv Steel and Kalkaji lubricant company under sections 115(2), 118(1), and 124(1) of BNS. Investigations so far revealed that the company stored chemicals without any safety equipment, resulting in such a major accident. We are investigating the matter. All the injured are undergoing treatment,” said Puran Singh, SHO of the Mujesar police station. Khushi Ram Rawat, an eyewitness, said an explosion in one of the CNC machines triggered the fire. “It was initially contained inside the shop but spread soon when explosions started taking place. At least six neighbouring shops were also gutted, including mine. My crane operator, Sumit, 21, is critically injured, and I have rushed him to AIIMS-Delhi after initial treatment in Faridabad,” he said.
