How many tons of explosive, how much money was lost or spent and how many people have been shortlisted to be prosecuted and who they were is all public knowledge. To understand this, we need to first understand what the NBC is, it’s very purpose and why it is important to follow its directives in minute precision. In simple terms, The National Building Code of India (NBC) is a comprehensive building code, providing guidelines for regulating building construction activities across the country. The Code was first published in 1970 at the instance of Planning Commission and then first revised in 1983.

The Code mainly contains administrative regulations, development control rules and general building requirements; fire safety requirements; stipulations regarding materials, structural design and construction (including safety); building and plumbing services; approach to sustainability; and asset and facility management.
